5 Ways Eating Fat Helps to Burn off Unwanted Body Fat
Fat Burns Fat.
Our bodies are fat-burning machines NOT carbohydrate-burning machines because originally our diet consisted of flesh, fruit, green plants and the occasional root and, contrary to what we have been brainwashed into believing, low-fat and fat-free diets have been injuring and slowly killing people for decades! They have fuelled the Obesity Pandemic.
Fat provides twice the energy per gram than carbohydrate or protein provides!
“No fat in the diet = no fuel to burn calories”.
The body requires energy to keep its metabolism properly functioning, and a 2007 study published in the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition found that consuming fatty acids can boost metabolic health.
Furthermore, anyone wanting to get rid of body fat stored around the belly, thighs, or buttocks (also called subcutaneous fat)—needs to eat fat because this “new” fat to help to break down the “old”, stored fat by activating fat burning pathways through the liver.
Fat isn’t the easiest nutrient to digest, so it sticks around in the digestive system for more time than many other nutrients.. That means you feel full longer, and you won’t feel the stomach-growling urge to raid the refrigerator after mealtime.
MUFAs(Monounsaturated fats) may also help stabilize blood sugar levels, according to Mayo Clinic.
Oils…. olive, peanut, sunflower and sesame
Nuts and seeds….. include almonds, peanuts, cashews, Brazil nuts, hazelnuts, macadamia nuts, pecans, and pistachios. Nut butters such as peanut butter, almond butter and cashew butter.
Other Foods….. avocados and black or green olives.
In fact, diets with high amounts of omega-3 fatty acids, a type of PUFA (Polyunsaturated fats) that the body can only acquire through food, create a greater sense of fullness both immediately following and two hours after dinner than do meals with low levels of the fatty acids, according to a 2008 study from University of Navarra in Pamplona, Spain. It’s no surprise that dieters who consume moderate levels of fat are more likely to stick with their eating plans than dieters who consume low levels of fat.
Benefit = more weight removed!
Makes You Happy.
Eating yummy foods makes us happy, and low-fat versions just don’t do the trick for one surprising reason:
Taste!
We’re programmed to like the taste of fat because the body knows it needs fat – so when fat is missing, we get bored with what we’re eating and eat “tasty food” which is full of nutrient-poor carbohydrates eg processed foods such as breads, biscuits, cakes and manufactured “meals”!
On an even happier fat note, omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA from fatty fish) can boost serotonin levels in the brain, helping to improve mood, increase motivation so you’re not tempted to eat high carbohydrate dishes like pizza and nutritionally devoid dishes.
Eat wild caught fish only. It’s a good idea to eat mainly small fatty fish like sardines, herring, and sild because larger fish like salmon, tuna, swordfish and mackerel (even wild caught) tend to contain pollutants like PCBs, dioxins and mercury which can accumulate in the body, so don’t eat them more than twice a week.
Builds Muscle.
Eating good fats along with an effective exercise program can increase muscle and increasing muscle mass is vital to increasing metabolism and burning calories both in and out of the gym.
Muscle weighs more than body fat and this is why you should measure yourself not weigh yourself to check on progress!
In a 2011 study published in Clinical Science, researchers examined the effects of eight weeks of omega-3 supplementation in adults ages 25 to 45 and found that the fat increases protein concentration and the size of muscular cells in the body. Previous studies have found that omega-3 fatty acids stimulate muscle protein synthesis in older adults and can mediate muscle mass loss due to aging.
Fat Makes Food More Effective for You
Many nutrients are fat-soluble, meaning that the body can’t absorb them without fat and if your body isn’t absorbing nutrients properly, that can result in deficiencies in Vitamins A, D, E, and K, leading to dry skin, blindness, brittle bones, muscle pains, and abnormal blood clotting.
These vitamins are also vital to maintaining energy, focus, and muscle health, all of which contribute to a healthy weight.
Vitamin E, for example, is a powerful antioxidant and helps maintain your metabolism and, according to a clinical trial from the University of Minnesota Medical School, the body’s levels of vitamin D (from sunlight) predicts its ability to lose fat, especially in the abdominal region.
So while you enjoy your salad with nutrient-rich spinach, almonds, sunflower seeds, tomatoes, carrots and egg yolk, you really need to thank the olive oil and avocado for sending the salad’s vitamins your way.
6. Summary
I hope you enjoyed/found useful those 5 reasons we need fat to burn off unwanted fat…
These 5 are just a few of the many reasons we need EFAs.
Eating a natural, varied diet (a Rainbow Diet) is important but we have to remember that our food today is nutrient deficient because of:-
poor, worked-out soils;
chemical fertilisers, pesticides, herbicides
harvested before it’s ripe – marketed as “Ripen at Home”—except that to ripen means to becomes full of nutrients and that can only happen whilst part of the plant!!
picked ripe but then stored – on average for 6 months – so nutrients disappear.
Therefore it’s vital that we supplement our diet with nutritional supplements.
Challenge…..how to know which are effective and which are a waste of money!
In my experience, Modere are the best choice because for more than 30 years they have provided carefully formulated supplements containing therapeutic amounts of top class nutrients which I have seen bodies use extremely effectively, time and again; plus the safest, most effective personal care products which do not lead to a toxic body!
Hello, I’m JuneMary and my passion is helping people to Live Clean and enjoy a longer, healthier life.
One major stumbling block to a healthy life is the many harmful and questionable chemicals in products we use on a daily basis, such as Bathroom products, as is shown by research dating as far back as 1989 when the US Dept of Occupational Safety and Health analysed 2,983 chemicals used in personal care products such as toothpaste, bubble bath, cosmetics etc.
884 were toxic.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ Of these:-
778 were acutely toxic
146 were carcinogenic
218 caused reproductive complications
314 caused biological mutations
376 caused eye and skin irritation
The number of chemicals used in everyday products increases yearly and most chemicals remain untested by Regulatory Bodies
Experiences like … never feeling 100%, being tired all the time, always catching something, not sleeping properly, indigestion, skin problems … are early indications that the body is under attack!
My improved health shows that by adopting the Live Clean philosophy, we can change this so come with me on this journey of Renewed Health by joining my Renewed Health Community on FB and see how you too could have the benefits we all want.
Yes, you really can have a new body to live in….so why not start NOW??
The Magic of the Human Body.
The human body is a self-replicating machine — it continually re-makes itself, every night, using what it has absorbed during the day! That’s why good nutrition is vital.
Our inventions (including the Space Shuttle) pale into insignificance when compared to the power ~ the “magic” ~ of the human body.
We are basically bags of salty water and electrical energy.
Every day, hundreds of thousands of cells do their jobs and die.
Some live only for a fraction of a second whilst others live for up to three months before needing to be replaced. ~~~~~~ (Each cell’s death is programmed in its DNA.).
In actual fact, at the end of about seven years we have made a new body because every single cell has been replaced!
Just out of interest, it takes three months to replace all the blood – three years to replace a vertebra – seven years to replace a long bone. (an interesting fact to note if you have crumbling vertebrae).
The main work of renewal and growth is done whilst we are asleep, which is why good quality sleep is one of the vital requirements for optimum health.
In this gloomy, dark season of the year many of us suffer from Depression – but the News is not all gloomy!!
To say Depression is ALL “in the Mind” is not exactly true because the Mind is “housed” in the brain — a physical organ which, like the rest of the body, needs nutrients in order to function correctly. (I know this because I was Clinically Depressed).
When nutrients are lacking, brain functions are vulnerable to many stresses.
I think you’ll find this article very interesting and helpful in avoiding Depression!
“Many clients come to me believing there is “something wrong” with them. They believe they’re fundamentally flawed, or they’re making a last-ditch attempt at life, often with plans to end theirs if things don’t improve. However, more often than not, the root of their depression is not a biochemical imbalance or a life-sentence. Rather, it’s a result of one or more of the following:
1. Isolation
Of all the research out there, social connection is one of the most proven ways to prevent and cure depression. However, the problem is that depression will often tell us we’re no fun and nobody wants to hang out with us, leading us back to isolation. Acknowledge that the thought does not serve you and, given your current state, and reach out. Join a Meetup group, a team, or call an old friend.
2. Grief
Ever been through a breakup, lost a job, experienced the loss of a family member or pet, or found yourself out of school for the first time? All of these situations are thick with grief. If you’ve experienced a major transition or loss in the past year (or longer if you’ve suppressed your grief), chances are your depression might be tied to that. Grief mimics depression, so feeling unmotivated, low, irritable, disinterested in things you used to enjoy, disconnected, unable to focus, and experiencing disturbances in your sleep and diet are likely related to your adjustment to the transition or loss.
3. Sleep-deprivation
Ever noticed how much more fragile and lethargic you are after a bad sleep? Exhaustion affects our mood, our energy levels, and our cognitive functioning. The problem is, depression can cause sleep disturbances, so it can become a vicious cycle. Speak with your therapist about ensuring proper sleep hygiene, learning cognitive behavioral strategies for managing insomnia, and, if you believe you might have a sleep disorder, consider getting a referral to a sleep specialist. Some sleep disorders are highly-correlated with depression.
4. Missing meaning
From an existential perspective, we require meaning in our lives for happiness. According to Viktor Frankl, we can find this meaning through work, relationships (romantic and otherwise), helping others, learning, creative endeavors (e.g. writing, music, art/design), and spirituality, to name a few. If you’re in a career you despise, or feel “lost” in life, depression has likely come about to tell you that the way you’re living your life does not align with your values and desires. Take it as a positive sign that change needs to happen, and consider how your life would look if you felt fulfilled in some (or all) of the aforementioned areas.
5. A critical inner voice
Imagine how worthless you’d feel if you had a verbally-abusive friend, partner, or parent beside you at all times. Well, this is how it is for many people who are highly self-critical. Pay attention to your internal voice. What’s its flavor? If you find you’re saying things to yourself that you would never say to a friend, it’s time to make a change. Several studies have shown that learning self-compassion can be an effective intervention in treating depression. Therapy can be a wonderful place to learn this language of healthy striving.
6. A lack of exercise
Along with social connection, exercise is another variable that is highly supported in its relationship to depression. There’s no need to join a CrossFit gym or to sign up for a marathon (although you can do that, too), but you’re likely to notice a difference in your mood from doing 20 minutes of yoga on your lunch hour, or getting out for a walk around the block after work. No time? Combine it with #1 and ask a friend to go for a walk.
7. Not enough nature
Recently, several studies have supported the benefits of “ecotherapy” or “green therapy” in treating depression. It fosters mindfulness and feelings of calm. When’s the last time you got outside and were surrounded by green? Try to fit this into your daily routine—even if it’s for only five minutes! If you live in a big city, make a point to hit up a park or shoreline.
8. Poor diet
More and more research is emerging that suggests nutrient deficiencies and food allergies are linked to depression. For example, studies have shown vitamins B and D are negatively correlated with depressed mood, while gluten is positively correlated (in those who suffer from intolerance). Every individual is different, but getting a blood test and seeing a naturopath, dietician, or holistic nutritionist might benefit you.
9. Stress
Studies have shown that chronic stress can lead to depression. Some stress is good, but when it outweighs coping, it might be a factor in why you’re feeling depressed. If you can’t cut some of your responsibilities, consider assessing where the expectations you feel are coming from (i.e. someone else, or yourself), and take some of the pressure off. Permit yourself to lower your expectations for performance, make mistakes, quit, and ask for help. In other words, stop treating yourself like a machine and let yourself be a human being.
10. All work & no play
Many people are under the (false) impression that once we reach adulthood we no longer need or deserve “fun.” Or that we’re only allowed to have “fun” once our work is done. Well, given the fact that there will ALWAYS be something more to do—another bill to pay, another project to complete, or another load of laundry to do—chances are you’re setting yourself up for a life that’s not very enjoyable. Allow yourself to carve some time out of your daily schedule to do something you enjoy. This could be an activity, or it could be lying on the couch watching Netflix.
11. Imbalanced hormones
Imbalances or deficiencies in estrogen, progesterone, and cortisol are all correlated with depression. Consider checking out these areas to ensure the depression you’re experiencing is not related to one of these!
12. Not dealing with emotions
We have primary and secondary feelings. Primary feelings are the ones that we feel at the core—for example, sadness or anger, anxiety or loneliness. Secondary feelings what we feel when we judge ourselves for having the primary feelings. Imagine you’re feeling depressed, but then you beat yourself up for feeling depressed and tell yourself you’re broken and need to stop feeling depressed. Now you’re not just feeling depressed; you’re also feeling shameful, pressured, and frustrated. By giving yourself permission to feel the feelings that come up (whatever they may be) with compassion and without judgement, you may notice a weight lifted off your shoulders.”
Aggressive promotion of cheap-to-produce multi-vitamins have brainwashed the Public into believing that they are the most vital nutrients the body needs, when actually it’s minerals that are vital.
Mineral Solutions
Today, minerals are missing from meat, vegetables and fruit (real food) so that supplementing is vital to maintain good heath!
The Government knows this is true and has classified Modere’s Mineral Solutions as food, making it VAT FREE.
Nutritional supplements need to be taken for at least 3 months because it takes that long for the body to produce sufficient new cells to begin making a difference.
To give the body a good start I recommend that for the first week, 15ml be taken before breakfast and before the evening meal, then subsequently just taking it before breakfast.
Why not treat your body to 3 months of what it needs and see the difference yourself?
I’m definitely benefitting because, despite my age, my health is getting better and better. 🙂
Do I hear the question, “Well what is this Live Clean Revolution”??
Well it’s simple really because it’s about changing our daily use products which are made from harsh chemicals such as those which cause cancer, disrupt our hormones, (ie “gender benders”), cause birth defects, and, in general, poison us so that our bodies become sick.
These toxic chemicals also go down the sink and toilet, damaging the environment and the creatures who live there.
We recognise that we must make changes because if we destroy our bodies and our planet—-
“Where will we and our descendants live??”
Live Clean is about people who believe in better products, and the positive change that switching to a clean-label lifestyle creates.
Living Clean means removing controversial ingredients from your life and seeing better health and improved wellbeing as a result.
From beginning to end, our goal is to achieve ethical sourcing, zero animal testing, safe and non-toxic/BPA-free containers, environmentally friendly recyclable packaging,
We’ve taken a stance against potentially harmful ingredients: GMO-free formulation, no Ethoxylates, no PEGS, SLS, Phthalates, no Parabens or other controversial chemicals. Our formulas are pure, reliable and high-performing. It’s in our roots; it’s ingrained in who we are. For more than 30 years we’ve been concerned about the environment and our ecosystem, so you can feel better about your role in the effort to preserve our planet.
We enable people to change to safe products, which are high performance and affordable, and to have nutritional products which provide nutrients, easily absorbed and used, which are no longer in our food — ie in meat, vegetables and fruit — the lack of which are also at the root of the metabolic diseases affecting people today.
